CAPTION
Caption is a short piece of text under a picture in a book, magazine, or newspaper that describes the picture or explains what the people in it are doing or saying (https://dictionary.cambridge.org)
Caption is used to give further information related to a picture or simply just to make it to look better. Caption is commonly placed below the picture itself.
The nature of caption:
- It can be found above, below or beside a picture or a photo.
- It provides information about what is the picture or photo about.
- Mostly, caption texts are short.
There are some types of caption, they are identification bar, cutline, summary, expanded, quote and group identification. I will elaborate them one by one.
- Identification Bar
It is a kind of caption which only mentions the subject in a photo or a picture.

2. Cutline
It is a kind of caption which mentions the subject in a photo or picture together with the activity that he/she does.
Example:

3. Summary
It is a kind of caption which mentions the subject in a photo or a picture together with his/her activity, the time, the location and the reason why he/she does it.
Example:

Stephanie sat on the chair and drank a glass of milk after playing yesterday
because she was thirsty.
4. Expanded
It is the longer version of summary caption. It includes how the activity is done.
Example:

Stephanie played with her doll under a table yesterday.
She held the doll tightly, all because she loves it a lot. It’s her favorite.
5. Quote
It is a caption which contains somebody’s word related to the picture or photo that has been quoted .

6. Group Identification
This caption is used to identify when subjects are more than one.
Example:

On a sunny Monday morning, we held a flag ceremony in our school yard.
