Basic Korean Sentence Pattern

Declarative Sentence

A 는 B 입니다 = A is B

Example:

그녀는가수입니다.

She is a singer.

저이름은 David 입니다.

My name is David.

저는학생입니다.

I am a student.

당신은선생님입니다.

You are a teacher.

는 is placed after a vowel (그는).

은 is placed after a consonant (은).

Negative Sentence

A 는 B가 아닙니다= A is not B

Example:

그녀는가수가아닙니다.

She is not a singer.

저는학생이아닙니다.

I am not a student.

가 is placed after a vowel.

이 is placed after a consonant.

담신은선생님이아닙니다.

You are not a teacher.

Interrogative Sentence

A 는 B입니까?= Is A B?

Examples:

그녀는가수입니싸?

Are you a singer?

당신은학생입니까?

Are you a student?

당신은선생님입니까?

Are you a teacher?

Negative Interrogative

A는B가아닙니까?=Isn’t A a B?

Examples:

당신은학생이아닙니까?

Aren’t you a student?

당신은선생님이아닙니까?

Aren’t you a teacher?

그녀는가수가아닙니까?

Isn’t she a singer?
