A. Telling Number from 0-9
0= 零 (líng)
1= 一 (yī/yāo)When we read number 1 in a telephone number, we read yāo, instead of yī.
2= 二 (èr)
3= 三 (sān)
4= 四 (sì)
5= 五 (wǔ)
6= 六 (liù)
7= 七 (qī)
8= 八 (bā)
9= 九 (jiǔ)
Now let’s learn how to ask some one’s telephone number.
你的电话号码是多少?
Nǐ de diànhuà hàomǎ shì duōshǎo?
你 (nǐ)= you
你的 (nǐ de)= your
电话 (diànhuà)= telephone
号码 (hàomǎ)= number
是 (shì)= be
多少 (duōshǎo)= what/how much/how many
When asking what, we normally use the word 什么 (shénme), but to ask about telephone number, we need another question word, i.e 多少 (duōshǎo).
It is normally used to ask the amount of something.
我的电话号码是。。。。。。(Wǒ de diànhuà hàomǎ shì…)

X: Nǐ zhīdào Mǎlì de diànhuà hàomǎ ma?
Y:知道, 玛丽的电话号码是0822-7543-9212。
Y: Zhīdào, Mǎlì de diànhuà hàomǎ shì 0822-7543-9212.

Y: Bù kèqì.
Remember, to make yes/no question sentence, you only need to put 吗 (ma) and a question mark at the end of a sentence. And the rest is just the same as declarative sentence.
The Particle 吧 (Ba)
吧 (Ba)is used at the end of a sentence to give a suggestion.
Examples:
1. 我们一起去电影吧. (Wǒmen yīqǐ qù diànyǐng ba). Let’s go to the cinema together.
2. 我们坐公共汽车去学校吧。Wǒmen zuò gōnggòng qìchē qù xuéxiào ba. Let’s take a public bus to go to school.
呢 (Ne)
We use 呢 (ne) at the end of a specific question to emphasize an interrogative tone.
Examples:
- 大卫在家呢? (Dà wèi zàijiā ne?)
- 去你的学校怎么走呢? (Qù nǐ de xuéxiào zěnme zǒu ne?)
