Example of a Personal Letter

Bandar Lampung, 15 March 2020

Dear Lilis,

Thank you for your last letter. I enjoyed reading it very much. Hoping so much you are in your best condition, like I am here when writing this letter. I always pray for the best for you and your family, my dearest friend, Lilis.

Now is rainy season here. It rains a lot, almost everyday. When the rain comes, I like to see it from the window, feeling the droplets on the clear window glass. It reminds me about my childhood, oh no no, our childhoods.

Do you remember when it was raining, we used to play in it? We ran here and there in the large front yard of my granny. We laughed loudly, very happily, though we got wet all our bodies and clothes. After raining we saw a very beautiful rainbow, a huge arch of colors in the sky, from the rice fields. We memorized its colors like the teacher taught us at school: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet, while singing its song.

Then we were back to my granny’s house because you wanted to pick some water apples. You climbed the tree that grew in the right corner of the yard. You looked very happy, ate those fruit, moved from one branch to another, still sang the rainbow song. You forgot that the branches were wet and slippery. Then you slipped and fell from that tree. You cried loudly, very loudly, and followed by of all your friends: Yuppi, Gendon, Ponodi, Nani, Siti, Sri, Sumiati, Supiah and I. We cried together. You couldn’t go to school for two weeks after that bad accident. I was so sad because I had to play and go to school without you. I will never forget that sweet memories all my life.

Sorry for I have to stop now. Later, when you reply my letter, please tell me about your new school, new friends and new neighbors in your new town. Don’t forget to take care of your health, Lis.

With Love
